Export your Notion workspace into a Company Brain

The wiki is where a company writes down what it knows — and where that knowledge is hardest to find a year later. A Notion export becomes institutional voice in the brain, each page with the breadcrumb that says where it belongs.

What a Notion export holds — and what the brain makes of it

A workspace owner exports all content as Markdown and CSV, subpages included. The brain builder reads every wiki page with its breadcrumb context ("Projects / Roadmap — …") and its references to other pages, plus every database row. Pages become the company’s content layer — the institutional voice — and database rows become structured records. Because the export keeps the hierarchy, the brain knows that a page under Engineering / Runbooks is a runbook even when its title does not say so.

Notion is a source whose text is read, because a wiki is written to be read — unlike chat and mail, where only who-and-when is kept. Beside the Slack and Workspace exports it ties pages to the people who were in the relevant channels and teams.

The exact clicks, as they are today. Platforms move menus; the engine’s source docs are updated when they do.

  1. 01

Workspace owner → Settings → Export all workspace content

  2. 02

Markdown & CSV, include subpages → download from the email link

  3. 03

Drop the archive on Notion in Studio’s Sources — or tell Claude Code or Codex “build my brain from this”. The source is detected by itself, even inside a combined archive.

Then, next month

An export is a snapshot. Drop a newer one and press Update: your edits and _notes/ are kept, and the update report says what changed.

How Update works

Then ask it

What you can ask a brain built from Notion

Examples, not promises: the answer is whatever your notes hold, and every answer cites the notes it came from. The more exports you add, the more these questions cross sources.

  • What did we decide about pricing, and which page says so?
  • Which runbooks mention the payments system?
  • Which database tracks vendor contracts, and which rows are past their renewal date?

limitLarge workspaces take hours to export; attached files are not read, and a page’s author is not in the Markdown export, so expertise comes from Confluence, Jira and Slack instead.

Good to know

The honest answers.

Is the page text really read? Yes — a wiki is written to be read, so pages become notes in full. That is different from chat and mail sources, where only who-and-when is kept.

Can I keep the brain in Notion? The brain is plain Markdown on your disk, opened in Obsidian, Studio, Claude Code or Codex. Notion is a source, not an output.
