Export Microsoft Teams into a Company Brain — signal only

Teams is the Microsoft shop’s Slack, and the brain reads it the same way: people, teams and channels with membership, and who posts where — never the message content.

What a Microsoft Teams export holds — and what the brain makes of it

From Purview eDiscovery, export a message report (CSV or JSON) for the teams in scope. The brain builder reads senders as people, teams and channels as organizations with membership tags, and message frequency as collaboration signal. Content columns are never read.

The result is the who-knows-what map: which people were in the channel for a project, who bridges two teams, who is still here. Beside the Workspace or Microsoft 365 directory the senders resolve onto org units.

  2. 02

Drop the archive on Microsoft Teams in Studio’s Sources — or tell Claude Code or Codex “build my brain from this”. The source is detected by itself, even inside a combined archive.

Then, next month

An export is a snapshot. Drop a newer one and press Update: your edits and _notes/ are kept, and the update report says what changed.

How Update works

Then ask it

What you can ask a brain built from Microsoft Teams

Examples, not promises: the answer is whatever your notes hold, and every answer cites the notes it came from. The more exports you add, the more these questions cross sources.

  • Who was in the channel for the migration project, and who is still with us?
  • Which two teams have the most members in common?
  • Who posts most in the support channels — the informal experts?

limitA compliance export reflects the scope you chose; a channel’s members and activity are known, its conversations are not.

Good to know

The honest answers.

Is message content imported? No. Content columns are never read; only sender, team, channel and date become signal.

Is this the same as the Slack source? It is the Microsoft equivalent: the same people-teams-channels structure and the same signal-only rule, from a Purview report instead of a Slack export.
