Export your Strava data into a private AI brain

Strava’s bulk export is a complete record of where and how you train. The brain keeps the activities, the clubs and the athletes you follow — and reduces every route to its start point.

CSV + GPXzero network calls in the build

What a Strava export holds — and what the brain makes of it

The export is a zip of CSV plus one GPX file per activity. The brain builder reads activities as dated events with a sport type, clubs as organizations, follower and following athletes as people, and your profile city. For the map it takes only the first point of each GPX — the place you set off from — so your regular training spots show as pins without a single full track entering the vault.

Beside a Google Takeout the Strava places join the same map: the trail you ran on holiday sits next to the restaurant you rated there.

The exact clicks, as they are today. Platforms move menus; the engine’s source docs are updated when they do.

  1. 01

Drop the archive on Strava in Studio’s Sources — or tell Claude Code or Codex “build my brain from this”. The source is detected by itself, even inside a combined archive.

Then, next month

An export is a snapshot. Drop a newer one and press Update: your edits and _notes/ are kept, and the update report says what changed.

How Update works

Then ask it

What you can ask a brain built from Strava

Examples, not promises: the answer is whatever your notes hold, and every answer cites the notes it came from. The more exports you add, the more these questions cross sources.

  • Where do I train most often, and which sports in each place?
  • Which clubs am I in, and who in my network is in the same club?
  • How did my activity volume change over the last two years?

limitRoutes are deliberately reduced to start points; the brain cannot replay a run or show a track.

Good to know

The honest answers.

Is my home location exposed? Only the start point of each activity becomes a pin, and the build runs on your machine with zero network calls — nothing is uploaded. If you start most runs at home, consider which activities you include.

Does it import heart rate or pace? No. Activities become dated events with a type and a start place; performance data stays in the export.
