Export your Spotify data into a private AI brain

Spotify will send you your listening history and, more interestingly, what it inferred about you from it. The brain keeps both: an artist-level taste graph, and the mirror.

What a Spotify export holds — and what the brain makes of it

The download comes in two parts: the account data within days, and the extended streaming history within up to 30 days. Tick the extended history — the default export alone is thin. The brain builder reads listening history as an artist-level taste graph, playlists and followed artists as interests, your search queries as a search log, and Spotify’s Inferences and Marquee ad segments as the algorithmic mirror. Userdata and payment files are quarantined.

Drop both zips’ contents in together; the brain merges them into one Spotify source.

Get the export

How to export your Spotify data

The exact clicks, as they are today. Platforms move menus; the engine’s source docs are updated when they do.

  1. 01

    spotify.com/account → Security & privacy → Download your data

  2. 02

Tick Extended streaming history — the default alone is thin

  3. 03

Email links arrive separately (account ~5 days, extended up to 30) — drop both zips' contents together

  4. 04

Drop the archive on Spotify in Studio’s Sources — or tell Claude Code or Codex “build my brain from this”. The source is detected by itself, even inside a combined archive.

Then, next month

An export is a snapshot. Drop a newer one and press Update: your edits and _notes/ are kept, and the update report says what changed.

How Update works

Then ask it

What you can ask a brain built from Spotify

Examples, not promises: the answer is whatever your notes hold, and every answer cites the notes it came from. The more exports you add, the more these questions cross sources.

  • Which artists did I listen to most each year, and which fell away?
  • What does Spotify infer about me, and does it match what I would say?
  • Which playlists did I build, and which artists recur across them?

limitThe extended history can take up to 30 days to arrive; until it does, the brain sees only the account-level summary.

Good to know

The honest answers.

Is my payment information imported? No. Userdata and payment files are quarantined — never imported.

Why two separate emails? Spotify prepares the account data and the extended streaming history as separate downloads with different lead times. Both belong in the same folder.
